Komons & The Project

This project aims to provide resources [knowledge, infrastructure, financial support] to activists and CSOs to strengthen their capacities and collective impact in strategic comms. We will design a call for experimentation projects on narrative change and movement building , and support their development financially and technically. We will facilitate a multidisciplinary digital and face to face space to share innovative training sessions on strategic comms, data analysis, social media tactics, and storytelling. We will foster the exchange of ideas and knowledge, and facilitate collective intelligence processes.

Komons is a node inside an ecosystem. Based in Madrid and the Internet, our mission is to enable processes, knowledge and infrastructure that scale impact of people working for good. We are on the intersection of digital technology and social/human transformation.

Your Role

This position is crucial for the project, as your main responsibility will be to connect these resources with the network of Feminism and LGTBQ+ activists. You will identify the organizations that are doing extraordinary work on communications and movement building and make sure that we design a call for projects that is relevant for them. You will also follow up the development of the projects and ensure that learning by doing is fostered.

Your Responsibilities

  • Identify the digital activism ecosystem in South Africa focused on LGTBQ+ and feminism.
  • Co-design, publication, and dissemination of call for proposals.
  • Network coordination.
  • Hybrid spaces/events (digital/face-to-face) coordination.
  • Follow up on project development.
  • Co-definition and planning of training sessions on strategic comms.
  • Identification and coordination of local content creators.
  • Support in collective monitoring, evaluation, learning, and documentation.

The practicalities

  • Working load: from January to October 2023. Flexible hours.
  • Contract type: commercial contract for service.
  • Remuneration: 20,000-35,000USD depending on the conditions to be agreed in the contract. Payment by objectives.
